Do you currently work or do you want to work in the future in the field of guidance and counselling? Do you want to develop your skills and knowledge about the ICT, including social media in guidance and counselling?

Through this 5 ECTS course (course code EDUA290) you can broaden and deepen your knowledge and skills in how to use ICT in guidance and counselling. The main aim is to help you to become aware of the variation in ways technology plays in career service field.

You will be exposed to learning situations where you are challenged to perceive and reflect on the potential of technology in the context of career guidance and counselling. The learning outcome will be enhanced competence in the use of ICT in guidance.

After completing the course you will:

  • have understanding and knowledge in the use of ICT in guidance
  • know how to apply an evidence-based theoretical framework when using ICT in guidance
  • be able to create a plan for maintaining your ICT literacy and technological skills
  • be able to evaluate opportunities and challenges for guidance presented by the use of existing and emerging technologies
  • be able to apply ICT appropriately in the guidance process

Active participation and contribution to studies and course assignments are required to complete this course.  The course will be assessed in the scale of 0-5. The course is a 5 ECTS course and workload is estimated to be 135 hours of work. The study/registration fee is 75 euros. The payment options are Credit Card, PayPal or electronic bank transfer from a bank based in Finland.

Course overview

During this six week period you will study both independently and with the other course participants. The course uses Moodle learning platform. The course participants are required to have basic computer skills in order to work online. Guidance and support is provided throughout the course.

During the course you will:

  • have online lectures
  • read course materials
  • have online assignments
  • participate in group discussions
  • write self-reflection report

During the course you can share your experience and at the same time you learn from others. All the course materials (online lectures, videos, assignments, activities, readings) are available all the time during the course. You don`t need online presence at a specific time, but you should participate to course regularly.
