Excellent Insight to Finnish Education through MOOCs

Studying online at JYUOpen is smooth, effective and highly professional, says Hayes van der Meer, Research Fellow from Australia. In his PhD study, van der Meer is comparing Finnish and Australian pedagogy. He decided to strengthen his knowledge of Finnish education at JYUOpen MOOCs.

I am an Australian school teacher with 20 years experience. In 2019, I was awarded the St. Patrick’s Research Fellowship which will form part of a PhD study. I am comparing traditional Australian Indigenous pedagogy with modern Finnish education. So, the world's oldest living pedagogy with world-best practice.

As part of my in-depth study of Finnish education, I could not have found a better place than the University of Jyväskylä and its Open University.

I studied three MOOCs (massive open online courses). I gained an excellent insight into Finnish education by studying Basic Education, Guidance & Counselling, and Educational Leadership in Finnish educational system.

This comprehensive and in-depth study was nothing but excellent. The 'Further Readings' very also interesting and felt like an added bonus.

The Open University offers smooth, high-quality studies online

The study content of the MOOCs was of absolut world-class standard. Participating in the online courses was very smooth and streamlined. The Finnish certainly know about technology and how to make it user friendly. I also found my tutor's responses prompt and very helpful.

I gained exactly what I was hoping for: A solid understanding and genuine appreciation for Finnish education, and plenty of inspiration and ideas for me to use in my research.

I would recommend these courses to anyone who wants to teach owes themselves and their students the insights I gained from the courses. If you want the best for your students, you will need to learn from world-best practice. Doing it online through the Open University of the University of Jyväskylä is smooth, effective and highly professional.
